Risk management and fostering innovation in community-led projects
A full day national conference examining how public funders can better balance appetite for risk with the ambition to work innovatively, democratically, and co-productively with communities. Part of the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded Outreach to Ownership research pilot.
A morning session of presentations and Q&A's will be followed by two active ‘open space’ workshops encouraging open conversation. These workshops will allow participants to consider the ways in which innovative (or high-risk, high-reward) community-led work can be better supported by funders. They will explore the benefits of projects perceived to be 'high risk', barriers to change and allow participants to consider the inherent difficulties of balancing risk and an appetite for innovation in community co-production with the need for effective governance and oversight by funders.
At the close of the day we will come together to share our findings and ideas for the future. This whole group session will offer one final opportunity for sharing experiences, encouragement, and inspiration when balancing risk management processes with our ambition to create a more innovative and inclusive funding landscape. Conference spaces are free, but numbers are limited.
