UDITE / SNDGCT EUROPA JOINT COMPARATIVE STUDY

Last updated: 23 Apr 2020
In 2008, UDiTE launched a comparative study to look at the position of the local authority chief executives in different parts of Europe. It was an important opportunity to link academic quality with the daily reality. Thanks to the coordination of the French colleagues from SNDGCT and with the help of the NGO EUROPA, connected to the University of Limoges, no less than 17 countries were involved in the study:

Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, United Kingdom, Slovakia,
Sweden and the Czech Republic.

At the 2016 SNDGCT annual conference, the French Association launched the final version of the comparative study. The study was launched in the presence of Stephan Pintre and the late Didier Duraffourg representing SNDGCT, Ronny Frederickx on behalf of UDITE, and Michel Senimon and Christophe Bonnotte on behalf of EUROPA.

The study ‘Statuts, compétences et responsabilités des dirigeants territoriaux en Europe’ (Statutes, powers and responsibilities of territorial leaders in Europe) is published in French at moment and an English translation is foreseen in the near future.
