In 2020-2021, during the COVID pandemic, UDITE, in cooperation with ATAM, launched a programme for Portuguese municipalities to obtain the European Label of Government Excellence. As UDITE is recognised until the end of 2022, it was decided to organise a second round. Applications are currently coming in and a workshop will be organised during September for the participating local authorities to launch their projects leaving the assessments to be completed by the end of the year  with a view to the process concluding with municipal awards in the Spring of 2023.

A call for Maltese municipalities to participate in ELOGE was initially launched during the pandemic by the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, due to circumstances, this was with limited success. The Council of Europe asked UDITE to provide professional support. On 28th June an information meeting was organised in St. Julians in the presence of the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Mrs Alison ZERAFA CIVELLI to relaunch the label. Executive Director Ronny Frederickx, explained the objectives of the project and testified about the results in other European countries. In the autumn, a workshop will be organised there as well for the municipalities that have applied. Both projects show that UDITE makes good governance a priority and welcomes the Council of Europe accreditation as recognition for the good work that UDiTE is doing.
