GET READY FOR 2021-27 – STRUCTURAL FUNDS, RECOVERY FUNDS GRANTS AND LOANS?

As preparations for new 2021-27 EU programmes continues, a new video has been put together to help you navigate the new names and acronyms that are now emerging.

 

Confused about the plethora of funding schemes emanating from Brussels at the moment? Watch this short video about the new rules concerning the EU Cohesion Funds and their relationship with the other funding mechanisms in the new 7-year financing period 2021-2027 that is getting underway. Local authorities will need to build bridges between the short term funding 2014 - 2020 and the planning for the 2021 – 2027 period that is now underway in our territories.

It will be vital for local authorities to engage in the process if they are to shape this next generation of programmes and marshall the funds to the major projects that will deliver the Green Deal, the Connected Economy in our communities.  At least 30% of the new funds, (i.e. the ERDF, ESF, the Agricultural, Rural and Maritime funds, will need to be channelled towards climate related objectives. 

It is vital of local authorities to understand the relationship between the current COVID recovery funding and that of the longer-term investment programmes that are taking shape in preparation for the next seven-year period 2021-27where the traditional EU Structural and Investment funds are going to be backed up by a series of new funds such as REACT EU that have been put in place with greater flexibility in the way they can be used.
