Is your plate healthy? - Richard Overy

At Telford & Wrekin Council we are in the middle of a consulation on Shaping Places - Telford and Wrekin's Future which will eventually replace the existing Core Strategy and forms part of the Local Development Framework for the Borough. This consultation aims to widen our audience, raise awareness and ask our customers how they want the Borough to be shaped/planned over the next 18 years or so.

As part of this consultation we produced a questionnaire which my colleagues and I have been going out to talk to our residents about,  one of the questions asks how we can encourage residents to live healthier lives? Several people I spoke to emphasised the importance of education in encouraging residents to lead healthier lifestyles.

The Eat Well Plate is a visual method of providing this healthy eating knowledge. The visual plate is split into segments showing the proportion and types of food which form a balanced diet as shown below.
