Sustainable Neighbourhoods Sought

Cities across North West Europe are being sought for a European Sustainable Neighbourhoods Project to share best practice.

Benefits of signing up to the project include the opportunity to work with experienced partners, technical support and 50% European funding for selected actions under the Interreg Programme.

The project is being organised within the framework of the Interreg IVB Programme and co-ordinated by the Union of Cities and Municipalities of Wallonia (UVCW). The Interreg IVB Programme is a financial instrument of the European Union's Cohesion Policy, funding projects which support transnational co-operation. The aim is to tackle shared problems of Member states, regions and other authorities.

Everywhere across Europe the issue of sustainable development in cities is a hot topic. The Sustainable Neighbourhoods Project will provide a pool of information for those involved to dip into when implementing sustainable development in their town planning policies. In particular it will seek to provide answers on how to go about it, from convincing elected officials, encouraging the population to participate and jointly integrating the environmental, social and economic dimensions in a project.
