Online registration is now underway for the OPEN DAYS 2009 European Week of Regions and Cities.

Participation in the event is free, with 124 specialist seminars to choose from. Running between 5 and 8 October, the event coincides with the free UDiTE Awards event. This is a new scheme which has been set up to encourage knowledge sharing between European municipalities. It recognises innovative local government projects that have resulted in real and sustainable improvement.

Organised by the EU Committee of the Regions and the European Commission, the European Week of Regions and Cities, entitled Global Challenges, European Responses, will follow four main themes; growth, climate change, territorial co-operation and the EU cohesion policy.
