Turkey Request Partners for CIUDAD
Following the
European Commissions launch of CIUDAD - Cooperation in Urban Development and
Dialogue (EuropeAid/127778/C/ACT/MULTI), UDiTE’s partner organisation in
Turkey, The Unions of Municipalities of the Marmara Region, is requesting
expressions of interest in collaborations.
CIUDAD
supports cooperation projects between local/regional authorities, their
associations/unions, NGOs, universities and other relevant actors and the
programme covers the following areas: "Southern" (Algeria,
Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Occupied Palestinian Territory, Syria,
and Tunisia) and the "Eastern" (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus,
Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Russian Federation) countries.
Interregional
projects, involving both groups are possible and local authorities of these
countries can apply for CIUDAD as well as the EU, EEA, IPA countries, which
includes Turkey. The Unions of Municipalities of the Marmara Region is
interested in cooperating with other groups in order to develop projects or to
join the existing groups working on project proposals. The UMMR, presided by
the Mayor of Istanbul, is also ready to involve members of its municipalities.
We are open to
prepare jointly project concept notes in the three areas foreseen by the call:
environmental sustainability and energy efficiency; sustainable economic
development and reduction of social disparities; good governance and
sustainable urban development planning.
The deadline
for submission of Concept Notes is 27 February 2009. Please do not hesitate to
contact us or to share with us your ideas. Currently, we are working on the
concept note in the field of strategic planning and performance management in
local governments, which we would like to implement in the countries which have
introduced these methods in their local governments as part of local government
reforms.
